2008 - 2009 Registration
In March, all freshman, sophomore and junior students will received registration materials for fall classes. Counselors will be meeting with each student individually to discuss credits, required courses, and next year's selections.
NOTE: Remember, registration cards for next year's schedule can be changed up to the end of summer school. After that time, no changes will be made.

Attention Seniors and Parents CAL Grant
The GPA Verification form for Cal Grant eligibility will be submitted electronically. If you have not already done so, make sure you turn in your social security number to Mrs. Warren in the Career Center before the March 3rd deadline.

Selective Service Registration
Young men who have turned 18, or will soon do so, have a legal responsibility to register with the Selective Service System.
You can now register with the Selective Service over the Internet by clicking on the "Register On-Line Now" icon at the Selective Service web site: http://www.sss.gov. Then enter the basic information (name, address, social security number, date of birth) and within 30 seconds, you will receive evidence that you have registered.
College Bound Students
Don't forget that summer is the perfect time to visit college campuses in which you are interested. Consider majors offered, location, size, housing and activities offered when selecting colleges.
It is also a great time to start your volunteer hours. Check with local hospitals, libraries, retirement homes and churches. Remember, colleges are interested in time spent volunteering in one specific area rather than many different ones.
Graduation Process
Seniors, bo looking our for the packet that will contain all the important dates and inforamtion needed for the graduation process. It will also contain senior activities information.

Summer School
Packets for summer school enrollment will be sent home sometime after Spring Break. If you need to make up an F grade in a core subject, or to raise a grade for college, plan on signing up.
Exact dates are not yet available, but summer school usually begins the Monday after school get out (which will be June 12) and continues on for six weeks. It is broken into two three week sessions. the firs session's classes correspond with first semester classes, and the second session's classes correspond with second semester classes. You may take one or two sessions depending on your individual circumstance.
Make sure to get your registration card in early, as many classes fill up quickly. Call Ms. crandall in the summer school office at Ext. 283 if you have further questions.
8th Grade Parent Night
8th Grade Parent Night will be held at GHS on Wednesday, march 26, 2008 at 7:00 pm. Come meet your student's future counselor and learn about the academic programs at GHS. Afterwards, come to the Event Center to meet department chairs in core subjects, the Athletic director and Administration. Counselors will be on hand for any questions. Fliers with pertinent information will be handed out at Goddard, Sandburg and the local private schools.
