Counseling Services

At Glendora High School, you are assigned a professional counselor who will be of great assistance to you through your four years. Your counselor can assist you in educational planning, such as your four-year plan of courses for high school graduation and preparation after high school, including career selection, college, vocational training and job training. Also, your counselor can help you in areas of personal adjustment to the high school setting.

To make an appointment with your counselor, go to the Guidance/Career Center before school, at nutrition, lunch, or after school, and fill out an appointment request form. Counselors are available to handle emergency appointments as needed.

The counselors produce a Counselor Connection which is mailed home several times during the year. The Counselor Connection provides students and parents with college, career, testing, and GHS guidance information.

Our Guidance/Career Center (GCC) offers activities and materials to explore college and career interests. These are available at no cost to the student and many may be checked out overnight. The GCC is open during school from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Students are encouraged to use the EUREKA computer program for comprehensive information on colleges, careers, and financial aid. There is also a collection of college/university catalogs, video tapes and career materials. SAT and ACT testing information is available as well as practice booklets. The GCC contains updated scholarship and financial aid information. College and military representatives visit for presentations; check for an updated list in the GCC. Students may use the GCC during nutrition, lunch, or before and after school to study or to explore career and college information.

The counseling load is divided among our counselors according to the last name of your student as follows:

Make certain your needs are clearly communicated to the counselor.

Attend and listen to all special sessions provided by the counselors.

Know the number of credits earned by saving semester report cards. Know how you stand with the graduation requirements in credits and required courses.

Know the requirements for entrance to training institutions you wish to attend after graduation.

Give counselors and teachers at least three weeks to complete forms or letters of recommendation.

The parent should:
